Unfortunately pictures are passed around on the internet without having the facts verified…  in archaeology this is damaging not only to the history of the artifact but overall general education

For instance this one that went viral in 2013  snow on the sphinx as on here


In reality this is from a miniature park in Tokyo after a snow storm…


Of course the angle of the picture was carefully chosen.. because if this  picture below was used instead .. well the Eiffel Tower peeking out in the background  is a dead give away


Or this one of Mount Nemrut  that is passed around the pseudo-archaeology groups  as a real photograph of the site.  In reality this is actually a miniature replica from  a tourist attraction  in Isantabul called  Miniaturk
